Rev. Msgr. Charles P. Vance
What first awakened in you the realization that God might be calling you to the priesthood?
I felt that I was called from a very young age.
What were your initial excitements and hopes as you began to think more deeply about our vocation?
That I could be of service to the Church and to the people I would meet along the way.
At what point in your life did you enter the seminary? (i.e. after high school/college/job experience)
After high school.
What do you value most about your vocation to the priesthood? What has made your choice of a vocation “worth it” to you?
I love people and I have met and ministered to so many and when you run into so many even years later they are grateful for some little thing you may have done.
What is the most challenging part of the priesthood for you at this time?
Seeing so many people fall by the way and not knowing exactly how to bring them back.
What are your hobbies?
Reading and walking.
What does your “typical” day look like?
Mass, funerals, school visits, nursing homes, hospital, marriage prep., meetings of various parish committees, rehearsals, marriages, baptism
What would you say, from your own experience, is the most compelling reason that a young man should consider a vocation the priesthood?
If you feel God is calling you then He needs you and the Church needs you! Make the sacrifice. |
