Chris Moriconi
Class: Pre-Theology II

What year did you enter the seminary?
2008
What did you do prior to seminary entrance?
Musician, music teacher, organist, music director
What influenced your decision to enter the seminary?
The Lord had been tugging on my heart for some time to “come and see”. People in the parishes I was familiar with encouraged me and gave great witness to evangelical virtue. Daily Mass. My parents, friends and family. The Rosary and Eucharistic Adoration.
Why do you want to be a priest?
It is a great mystery why God would call me to this vocation because I would think of myself unworthy of such a lofty call. I think also it is a process of growing in one’s identity as a priest. Guided by the Holy Spirit, the desire to serve God’s church in this way has grown and must be tested.
What did your family and friends think about your decision to enter the seminary?
My family has always been supportive in prayer, words and deeds in my decision to enter the seminary. I think there was some shock and discomfort, but the Lord will use all these things for His greater glory.
What do you do for fun?
I enjoy reading, playing music, singing, golfing, running (sometimes it’s not fun but it’s growing on me).
Who is your favorite Saint?
St. Padre Pio
What advice would you give to a young man thinking about the seminary?
St. Paul says to the Philippians “Have no anxiety about anything, but in everthing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” Go before Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament and ask Him to guide you and help you. Also, if there is a good priest or mentor you can meet with talk to them. Most importantly enter the inner sanctuary where the Holy Spirit dwells and listen to Our Lord in prayer.
