Manuel J. Flores

Class: I College

Parish: St. Hugh of Cluny

What year did you enter the seminary?

2009

What did you do prior to seminary entrance?

I was working in the Atlantic Express School Bus Company as a matron.

What influenced your decision to enter the seminary?

I accepted the call after reading the scriptures and praying.

Why do you want to be a priest?

I’ve always wanted to find my place in God’s world, to serve him in a way to please and honor him and I felt that this was it. He wants me to be a Catholic priest.

What did your family and friends think about your decision to enter the seminary?

Most of my family thought that it was a really good decision for me to make. My friends have been praying for me.

What do you do for fun?

I play sports and occasionally video games and I like spiritual reading.

Who is your favorite Saint?

St. John Vianney

What advice would you give to a young man thinking about the seminary?

Discern. Discern. Discern. Pray and be like Samuel who says “speak, for your servant is listening” (I Samuel 3:10). If God is calling you for the priesthood then why not answer “yes”? The Heavenly Father only wants what’s best for you. To be happy and “Father knows best.” so hold fast and do not give into temptations. Persevere and the Lord will give you eternal joy!
