What year did you enter the seminary?
Fall of 2003.
What did you do prior to seminary entrance?
I entered right out of high school, so I didn’t have a career.
What influenced your decision to enter the seminary?
My mother’s prayers and example of Christian living have probably been the greatest influence on my discernment process. In addition, the many faithful, joy-filled priests I have known through my parish have been quite encouraging.
Why do you want to be a priest?
To serve the People of God and build up the Kingdom of Heaven here on earth.
What did your family and friends think about your decision to enter the seminary?
My family has been very supportive of my decision to pursue the priesthood. And, to my surprise, my friends were also very positive and encouraging. They have continued their support, and our friendships have been strengthened.
What do you do for fun?
I love camping and backpacking, especially in the northeast and southwest parts of America. I also enjoy playing piano and writing music.
Who is your favorite Saint?
Saint Columbkille, one of the three co-patrons of Ireland, who was known for his sills as a writer, poet, orator, and musician.
What advice would you give to a young man thinking about the seminary?
The seminary is the best place to discern and a great time to listen for the call of the Lord.
